Hello K1 Families, We hope you are doing well. The activities for the week as we continue our Shadows and Reflections unit. Literacy: These are books you can find as read aloud books on YouTube they are part of our OWL curriculum. The Puddle Pail by Elisa Kleven, Kitten's First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes and Night Shift Daddy by Eileen Spinelli. Questions you can ask after any book; What did you notice?, What was your favorite part? ask children to be specific with that question and what might happen next? The Puddle Pail read aloud: https://youtu.be/euIWyw6kvsA Questions: Why did Ernst’s colorful puddles disappear once he had put them in his pail? (Help children understand that the colors and shapes of things in the puddles were reflections or shadows.) What did Ernst collect that will last for a long time and will make a good collection- all different sizes, shapes and colors? Kitten's First Full Moon read aloud: https://youtu.be/elS6rfKpxz0 Questions: What did the kitten see in the pond? (Guide children toward understanding that this was a reflection of the moon, not the moon itself.) Imagine that a puppy had been with this kitten, trying to do what the kitten did. Could the puppy have climbed the tree? Night Shift Daddy read aloud: https://youtu.be/F2kCDAe0ty0 Questions: Can you tell which words rhyme in the book? Can you find the shadows in the book? Children can make collections of 9. Number or Shape Memory Game: Divide a table by placing tape down the middle. Make or use number or shape cards. You will need two sets of the same numbers or shapes. Turn one card from one side of the table and another card from the other side.
