Hello K1 Families,
It has been another very busy week for K1. The children did a great job with week one of OWL (Opening the World of Learning) centers. Please see a previous post regarding an informational evening about the Lynch Early Childhood Project, Wednesday, October 19 at 6:00 here at school. Beginning Monday, September 26 K1 will begin a new arrival/dismissal process. Please have your child in line in front of the stairs in the alley between Broadway and the school yard by 8:15. At dismissal both K1 classes will file out and line up against the school wall at the stairs giving teachers a high five before being dismissed to you. We hope this will alleviate the confusion in the main school yard.
Centers for Next Week:
Dramatic Play: Children will act out painting furniture.
Art Center: Apple painting.
Math Center: Children will use counters and match using 1 to 1 correspondences.
Writing Center: Each child will trace and practice writing his/ her name independently.
OWL Books: Noisy Nora, Oonga Boonga, Peter's Chair
Beginning next week K1 will be implementing a new handwriting program," Hand Writing Without Tears" (HWT). Along with manipulatives the children will be doing work in a workbook. This program will enhance our K1 curriculum which includes Opening the World of Learning and Building Blocks.
