We are in the season of Advent and the children are learning about what Advent means and the story of the First Christmas. We sent home an Advent wreath with the first candle "lit" and a Nativity scene with stars. The children can earn the stars by doing good deeds at home. We will be doing the same here at school. When a child does something kind they can hang a star by the classroom Nativity. Next week we will begin OWL, Unit 3 Wind and Water. Centers for next week:
Art Center: Painting with straws, children will explore and discuss what air is and what air does. They will show interest and curiosity in learning new concepts and trying new activities.
Writing Center: A Letter to Santa, children will draw a picture of one item they would like to get for Christmas. They will write or shadow write (writing over hi-lighted words) a letter to Santa!
Game Center: Name Memory Game, Children will participate as a member of a group, gain ability to regulate and attend to their own emotions, take turns playing the memory game using classmates names.
Dramatic Play: Playing house, children will interact with others by cooperating, helping and sharing, use language to develop and maintain relationships in play.
Religion: The Christmas Candle and The Christmas Story about the Holy Family, from I Am Special.
OWL Books:Gilberto and the Wind, One Dark Night and Time for Bed
OWL Songs:Come on and Join in to the game, Clap your Hands, The Wheels on the Bus, I'm a Little Teapot, Apples and Bananas and Down by the Bay.

Letter of the week: Kk--Handwriting Without Tears workbook --Use correct top to bottom, left to right directionality for symbols, demonstrates active listening by attending to instructions.
