Weekly Update for Week Ending 1/22/16

Hello K1 Families,

There is no school on Monday, January 18th; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Next week we are on
week four of OWL, Unit 3 Wind and Water.  Centers for next week are:

Art Center--Painting with colors from "Rabbits and Raindrops"--Children will paint at the easel using colors seen in the story Rabbits and Raindrops.  

Math Center--Sweater Math Match Up--Children will count the number of stickers on sweaters and find a pair of jeans hanging on a clothes line that has the matching number written on the jeans.  Children will count sets of objects, one to one correspondence and number recognition.

Writing Center--Story Related Word Cards--Children will understand that print carries meaning, writes familiar words from storybooks.  Children use mini white boards and markers to write words from story related word cards.

Block Center--Children will interact with others appropriately by cooperating, helping, sharing and expressing interest.  Children will use language to develop and maintain relationships in play.  Children will explore spatial relationships.

OWL Books--A Hat for Minerva Louise, The Snowy Day, The Very Noisy Night and Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain.

OWL Poems--My Big Balloon, Cloud, Hands, Boom, Bang!, and Ten Little Fingers

OWL Songs--Down by the Bay, Old MacDonald Had a Farm, Five Green and Speckled Frogs, Apples and Bananas, Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes and  If You're Happy.

Religion--Thank you, God, for creating birds.

​Letter of the Week​--Nn

Number of the Week-- 2 --We have started introducing a number of the week.  Each week the children will learn a new number and practice writing that number.  These papers are put into each child's binder here at school.

Monday--No School

Tuesday--
Religion

Wednesday--Gym

Thursday--Library with Ms. Teresa

Friday--Show and Tell for the Letter Nn.
