Hope this post finds you all doing well. Here are some activities for the week ending 5/29/20. Monday, May 25 is Memorial Day, we will be off line. Literacy: "I Heard Said the Bird" https://youtu.be/O0GwtaMhE0M Story Discussion: Which animal first knew about the NEW ONE? (the bird) How do you think the bird felt about this news? How can you tell? Did you ever hear some exciting news? What was it?How did you feel? "Bigger": https://youtu.be/kSNd3Xys6B4 Story Discussion: Think of the books you read in school this year. Which book did you especially like and why? When the boy got bigger he sometimes played with other children and sometimes he had to share. What are some times it's more fun to play with other children than to play alone? Tell me about sharing toys and other things with friends. Math: How long is it_____? Have children use non standard units to measure length. Children will become familiar with the terms used in length measurement. Children will use blocks or other manipulatives to measure the length of items inside or outside. Children can record what they have measured and the length. Children can compare the length of the different items they measure, what items are the have an equal length, what items are longer? Language and Print Manipulatives: Upper and Lowercase Memory Game Using a set of upper case letters and a set of lower case letters children will play the memory game. Use as many letters that you think your child is ready for. Once they have mastered those letters add additional letters to challenge your child. Children turn an upper case letter then turn a lower case letter. Have children say the name of each letter they turn over. If they get a match they go again. Religion: I Can Wait To help increase the children's understanding that waiting is often necessary and worthwhile. Numbers: 13, 14 and 15 Have children practice writing these number.
